Every Day Counts!
Every day at school matters! Each day students are at school, they have another opportunity to learn, grow, build friendships, and be part of our school community.
Last year, our campus attendance rate was 96%. This year, we believe we can bump that up by just one percent—to 97%! Our goal is to celebrate students who are making school attendance a priority and encourage our entire school community to make every minute count.
How Will It Work?
- Attendance is taken each school day at 10:00 a.m.
- Each month, we will recognize students who have 97% or better attendance for that month.

Every absence counts toward the monthly percentage, regardless of the reason for the absence.
- For this attendance challenge, every 3 tardies or early checkouts will count as 1 absence.
- We understand that children get sick and sometimes need to stay home. That's one of the reasons we calculate attendance one month at a time.

The calculation starts over at the beginning of each month After Each Leader Assembly), giving every student a fresh opportunity to reach the goal!
This Is NOT About Coming to School Sick ❤️
We never want students to come to school when they are too sick to be here. If your child has a fever, the flu, strep, or another illness that requires them to stay home, please keep them home and follow school health guidelines. Our goal is to encourage healthy students to be at school consistently, not to encourage sick students to attend.
That's also why our attendance challenge starts fresh every month (after every Leader Assembly). An illness or other absence doesn't mean a student has missed their opportunity for the rest of the year!
Small Amounts of Time Add Up!
Sometimes we don't realize how much learning time can be lost through small amounts of missed time.
For example, missing just 15 minutes of school each day adds up to approximately:

1 week: 1 hour and 15 minutes

1 month: about 5 hours

1 school year: about 45 hours—or roughly 6 full school days!
Those 15 minutes may not seem like much on one day, but over time, they add up.
That's why we're encouraging our Bobcats to be here every day, on time, and ready to learn!
Fun Monthly Rewards 🎉
Students who meet our 97% monthly attendance goal will have the opportunity to participate in fun rewards such as:
- Bubbles in the courtyard
- Courtyard dance party
- Hot cocoa party
- Popcorn on the playground
- VIP seating at a Leader in Me Rally
- Lunch in the courtyard
These are just some of the fun surprises we have planned!
Our goal isn't perfect attendance. Our goal is progress. This year, we're setting a goal of 97%! We want to celebrate students who are making a strong effort to be at school consistently. To make sure every student gets a fresh start, attendance will be calculated separately for each reward period. An absence in one period does not carry over to the next. Reward periods are roughly 4 weeks long and are the time from one Leadership Assembly to the next!
